Welcome to Tinkerbite Childcare!

My name is Laura "Loo" Brown and Tinkerbite Childcare is my fledgling childminding business. I'm an Ofsted registered childminder based in Sutton Bridge, Spalding.

Educational & Developmental

My aim is to work in close partnership with parents and other learning settings attended by the children, to provide flexible, individual childcare, tailored around each child’s abilities and learning goals.

I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for younger children to encourage their development.

For older children, I will speak regularly with teachers, try to match activities with their current school curriculum and offer homework and reading help.

Why Choose Tinkerbite Childcare?

Smaller premises and fewer children means more one to one attention and a quieter, calmer environment for your child.

Many of the children at Tinkerbite Childcare will be at a particularly receptive stage in their development, so overall good ethics and social skills will be underlying in everything we do. Being kind to one another, animals and our planet are important to us and will be encouraged through our recycling and sustainable eating projects.

We have a small, enclosed garden where we can plant flowers, fruit and vegetables.

We also cover a range of topics in our learning (from dinosaurs, to pirates, to the weather).

I have three cats who love to join in our activities!
Location

Having nearby parks and playing fields is great fun (when the weather is nice!) and the Children's Centre offers group activities, such as baking and music classes, that we can attend.

We're also conveniently located for an occasional day trip to the Fun Farm or Hunstanton Beach.

We pick up from and drop off at Westmere School and Sunbeams Nursery.

My Experience & Credentials

Throughout my career I have worked with children in a variety of settings, such as volunteering as a youth leader at church summer camp and working as a Teaching Assistant at The Peele Community College. Through these and other life experiences, I’ve worked with children of all ages and abilities (including disabled and SEN). This has given me an excellent understanding of the building blocks that make up a well-rounded and lifelong learner, and enables me to provide an excellent, flexible child care solution.

Much of my career has been based in catering, in which I progressed to training others. Finding the training aspect of this extremely rewarding, I made the decision to become a Childminder, in order to focus on teaching.

I hold a First Aid certificate and Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2, which are updated regularly. I also continually improve upon my skills and knowledge by participating in at least four training courses a year.

I have public liability insurance, am a member of Pacey (formerly NCMA) and use babysdays (online tool, which allows parents to view their child's progress). See the Parents page of the website for more information on these.

We recently received our first Ofsted grade of Good. Details of this are available to view online, or in paper form on request.
